In her first major reaction following the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) significant defeat, outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has labeled the election results a product of systematic rigging. Addressing reporters from her Kalighat office on Tuesday, Banerjee asserted that the BJP’s ascent to power with over 200 seats was not a reflection of the public mandate but rather a result of manipulation. She claimed that her party remains undefeated in the hearts of the people, despite the numbers displayed by the Election Commission.

Banerjee leveled serious allegations against the counting process, stating that TMC polling agents were forcibly evicted from counting centers across the state. She further alleged that Form 17C documents were snatched away to prevent proper verification of votes. According to the TMC leader, if the BJP had won through a fair democratic process, she would have accepted the verdict without hesitation, but the current outcome is "not a real loss."

Taking a defiant stance, the TMC supremo questioned the calls for her resignation. She made it clear that she has no intention of stepping down under pressure, arguing that the election was stolen through administrative interference. Banerjee directly accused the Election Commission of acting as a puppet for the BJP, claiming the constitutional body played directly into the hands of the saffron party to facilitate their victory in Bengal.
